The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
The Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan is determined as the authorized body in this Convention by the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan dated November 26, 2015, No. 696. It should be noted that for this, the experts of the Committee, together with representatives of the relevant ministries and departments and international structures, carried out monitoring to determine the number of animals included in the Annexes of this Convention, from the genus of the markhoor, the mountain sheep Marco Polo (arkhar) and the Bukhara mountain sheep (Urial) , the number of the markhoor makes 4161 heads, the mountain sheep Marco Polo (arkhar) - 26483 heads and the Bukhara mountain sheep (Urial) - 1615 heads. In order to increase the number of animals included in the Annexes of this Convention in the future, breeding nurseries (valers) are being built for breeding the Severtsov sheep in the Penjikent and Asht regions of the Sughd region, as well as Marco Polo in the Shugnan and Murghab regions, the Bukhara mountain sheep (Urial) in the Kubodiyan region and the markhoor in the Shamsiddini Shokhin region, pheasant chicken in the Dangara district. To increase the population of other species resistant to the climate of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Committee, together with the Association of Hunters of Tajikistan have brought 72 heads of wild European sheep "Mouflon", 5 heads of guttated gazelles from the Czech Republic to the Republic of Tajikistan and released them to the breeding nurseries of Khutalon in the Dangary district of Khatlon region and 3000 heads of chickens pheasant in the breeding nurseries of Chorsada and Lolazor, Dangara district, Khatlon region. Out of this amount, 500 pheasant chickens were purchased at the expense of the Committee funds and released to the Hutalon breeding nursery. The total area of the "Khutalon" nursery is 6 thousand hectares. It contains 393 heads of Bukhara mountain sheep (Urial), 88 heads of markhoor, 300 heads of guttated gazelles, 8 heads of Tien Shan red bear and 205 heads of wild boars.
