Brussels, June 13, 2025 - A special event titled "Water Resources and Environmental Traditions for a Sustainable and Climate-Resilient Future" was held in Brussels. At this event, the outcomes of the High-Level International Conference on Glacier Preservation — 2025 (Dushanbe, May 29-31, 2025) were discussed.

The event featured speeches bу Bahodur Sheralizoda, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of Tajikistan, Kris Verduyckt, Chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Group and Member of the Belgian Senate, Maria Diamantopoulou, Director General for Environment and Climate Change at the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Luc Devigne, Deputy Managing Director for Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia and OSCE at the European External Action Service, Natalia Alonso Cano, Regional Office Director for Europe and Central Asia at UNDRR, Ludovic Folin Calabi, UNESCO Liaison Office Head to the European Union, The Ambassador of Costa Rica to Belgium (as representative of the co-chair country of the 2025 UN Ocean Conference), Members of the European Parliament from the Committee on Environment, Climate Change and Food Security: Sakis Arnaoutoglou and Nikolaos Farantouris

Bahodur Sheralizoda, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of Tajikistan, in his speech presented the essence of global initiatives by the Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan H.E. Emomali Rahmon on water and climate issues, as well as the outcomes of the High-Level International Conference on Glacier Preservation - 2025. He particularly elaborated on the "New Process on Glacier Preservation" launch and its further advancement.

Speakers at the event acknowledged Tajikistan's leadership in the international arena on water and glacier preservation issues, sharing their countries' and organizations' experiences in addressing environmental challenges, climate change mitigation, disaster risk reduction, and green transition.
