Irrigation of the Auxiliary Farm — A Foundation for Implementing the Greening Program
To support the practical implementation of the Greening Program and create favorable conditions for growing and adapting ornamental and evergreen trees to the local climate, construction of an artesian well has begun at the auxiliary farm of the Environmental Protection Department of Mastchoh District.
The artesian well, drilled with the support of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, will provide irrigation for 50 hectares of nearby land. The goal of this key infrastructure project is to ensure a constant water supply for tree cultivation and to strengthen the production capacity of the auxiliary farm.
The well-drilling ceremony was attended by the Chairman of Mastchoh District, Azam Alizoda, who noted that this initiative will play an important role in improving the environment, implementing the Government’s relevant programs, and creating new jobs.
It is worth noting that under the Greening Program, 5 hectares of land from the district’s reserve fund have been allocated this year to the Environmental Protection sector of Matcha District, where trees adapted to the local climate will be gradually planted. Currently, the farm employs four full-time workers, and as the planting area is fully developed, it will be possible to provide up to 17 workers with well-paid jobs.
At present, over 17,000 seedlings of various species such as paulownia, acacia, elm, thuja, juniper, and pine are being grown on one hectare of the farm. These seedlings were provided with the support of the Committee for Environmental Protection, and their adaptation to the regional climate is ongoing. On another hectare, potatoes have been planted, and after the harvest, other crops will be cultivated.
It should be emphasized that the drilling of the artesian well and the development of the auxiliary farm are an important part of local environmental policy and will play a significant role in the effective implementation of national environmental protection strategies and the advancement of a “green” economy.
