Celebration of World Environment Day at the Research Institute for Sustainable Development and Green Economy
On June 4, 2025, the Aarhus Centre and the State Unitary Enterprise "Tabiat" Research Institute under the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in cooperation with the Research Institute for Sustainable Development and Green Economy of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of the Republic of Tajikistan, held a roundtable dedicated to World Environment Day. The theme of the event was “Managing International Actions and Environmental Protection under Changing Climate Conditions.”
The event brought together representatives of government agencies, scientists and experts, research and industrial organizations, and commercial companies. In honor of the occasion, an exhibition was organized showcasing informational, promotional, educational, and scientific materials related to the topic.
At the opening ceremony of the roundtable, Dr. Sharofzoda Farhod Razzok, Doctor of Economic Sciences and Director of the Research Institute, emphasized that environmental protection and the rational use of resources are essential areas of state policy and are closely linked to the development of a green economy. In this context, the UN’s declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Glaciers at the initiative of Tajikistan is evidence of the country's significant contribution to addressing global environmental challenges.
Alikhon Karimov, Director of the State Research Unitary Enterprise "Tabiat", and Jamoliddin Yakubov, Head of the Aarhus Centre of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, spoke about the implementation of climate change projects and the integration of green economy principles in the work of the Aarhus Centres in Tajikistan.
It is worth noting that this roundtable reflects strong cooperation among academic institutions, government bodies, and civil society organizations. Such events contribute to raising awareness and promoting solutions to environmental challenges.
