Festive Event Dedicated to World Environment Day
On June 5 of this year, a ceremonial event dedicated to World Environment Day was held in the conference hall of the central office of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
At the event, the congratulatory message of the Chairman of the Committee was read by the First Deputy Chairman, Isfandiyor Shukurzoda, who noted that since gaining state independence, the Republic of Tajikistan has been recognized globally as an initiator in addressing global environmental issues.
The capital of our Motherland – the city of Dushanbe – thanks to the wise policy of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, has become a venue for various international events and forums, including those related to water and climate issues, contributing to global environmental improvement and a decent life for people around the world.
During the event, staff members gave congratulatory speeches, highlighted the favorable conditions created by the Government under the wise leadership of the Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, and expressed their appreciation for the fruitful work of environmental protection specialists throughout the cities and districts of the republic.
According to Order No. 46 issued by the Chairman of the Committee on June 4, 2025, a number of environmental activists were awarded the badge “Honored Environmental Protection Worker,” as well as certificates of honor and letters of appreciation.
Students from secondary educational institutions across the country who participated and won in the environmental protection competition on the theme “The Necessity of Preserving Glaciers for the Future of a Green Planet” were awarded diplomas, certificates of honor from the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and monetary prizes.
World Environment Day, as an international initiative, originated from an “environmental appeal” addressed to the UN Secretary-General, signed on May 11, 1971, by 2,200 scientists and cultural figures from 23 countries. In 1972, the World Conference on the Human Environment was held in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, attended by representatives from 113 countries. At this conference, it was decided to observe June 5 each year as World Environment Day.
Since independence, the Republic of Tajikistan has celebrated World Environment Day at a commendable level, contributing to the promotion of environmental protection, raising awareness about responsible attitudes toward nature, and encouraging the rational use of its resources.
