Environmental Seminar at the Tajik Agrarian University
An environmental seminar was held at the Tajik Agrarian University named after Shirinsho Shotemur as part of the celebration of World Environment Day, initiated by the Main Department of Environmental Protection in the city of Dushanbe.
The seminar was organized in accordance with the decision of the Chairman of the city of Dushanbe and within the framework of the implementation of the “State Comprehensive Program for the Development of Environmental Education and Awareness of the Population of Dushanbe for 2021–2025,” as well as in observance of the International Year of Glacier Preservation.
At the beginning of the event, the university’s rector, Usmon Mamur Mahmadyorzoda, delivered a speech highlighting the initiatives of the Leader of the Nation. He noted that from May 29 to 31, a high-level international conference on glacier preservation was held in Dushanbe, which further enhanced the authority of independent Tajikistan on the global stage. It was also emphasized that this is the fifth initiative of Tajikistan, and now March 21 will be annually celebrated as the International Day of Glacier Preservation.
Loik Rahmonzoda, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in his speech, spoke about the progress in implementing the “State Program for the Greening of Tajikistan until 2040,” emphasizing the need for cooperation between the university and the country's landscapers and gardeners, since the successful implementation of the greening program requires intensified efforts from all interested parties.
Then, the Head of the Department of Science and Innovation of the University, Candidate of Biological Sciences Ubaydullo Akramov, as well as the Head of the Department of Botany and Agricultural Ecology, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences Ibodat Sulaymonova, presented information on the progress of the Water for Sustainable Development Decade (2018–2028) and the impact of global warming on agriculture.
At the conclusion of the seminar, scientists and specialists provided recommendations for the implementation of environmental programs.
