As part of the high-level international conference on glacier preservation, a High-Level Summit was held on May 30 on the theme: "Financing Adaptation, Loss and Damage Related to Glaciers."
The first session, dedicated to financing adaptation and mitigation of the consequences of rapid glacier melt, was chaired by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan. It included participation from the Vice President of The Gambia, the Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund, the Vice President of the Asian Development Bank, the Executive Director of UNICEF, the Deputy Director of UNESCO, and heads of international and regional financial organizations.
This session focused on financing the development and implementation of programs and initiatives aimed at adaptation and reducing the destructive impacts of glacier retreat.
