Forging Regional Solutions for a Glacier-Dependent Future
This afternoon, a high-level Ministerial Dialogue on Climate Resilience, Glacier Preservation, and Water Cooperation, has brought together environment ministers and leading experts from across Central Asia.
Organised by the Committee for Environmental Protection of Tajikistan and CAREC, Forum 5 addressed the urgent need for coordinated regional action to protect glaciers, manage shared water resources, and build resilience in the face of intensifying climate impacts.
Ministers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, along with partners from ADB, WMO, IUCN, and others, shared national strategies and called for deeper collaboration across borders, sectors, and communities. The dialogue also spotlighted youth, women, academia, and private sector voices as essential to shaping long-term solutions.
As glaciers melt and challenges mount, today’s discussions reaffirmed one truth: sustainable water cooperation is not just necessary—it is the key to shared prosperity.
