At the initiative of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and with the financial support of the Asian Development Bank, a high-level consultative seminar was held on April 8, 2025, at the Hilton Hotel in Dushanbe. The seminar was attended by representatives of the media of the Republic, as well as specialists and experts on environmental issues and volunteers from the Committee for Environmental Protection.

During the event, international representatives discussed issues related to climate change, the current state of glaciers, existing problems and solutions, collective environmental protection measures, the dissemination of accurate information about glacier preservation to various segments of the population, and other topics aligned with the objectives of the upcoming conference.

The actual condition of glaciers, the trends in their melting, and the impact of climate change on the planet are among the most pressing global concerns. Over the past few decades, the number of small and medium-sized glaciers has decreased, and this process continues at an alarming rate.

After the presentations, a representative held a meeting with media personnel and provided specific and detailed answers to numerous questions from journalists. The seminar facilitators, along with other speakers, addressed the use of modern monitoring methods and glacier conservation research, successful international experiences in environmental awareness, the impact of glaciers on the increase of natural risks such as floods amid climate change, and other relevant topics.

The main goal of the event was to raise public and institutional awareness through the media about the dangers of climate change, particularly the process of glacier melting. The summit was organized to strengthen cooperation among governmental bodies, international organizations, and civil society for the development of joint and sustainable strategies for the protection of water resources and the environment. The participation of representatives from science, research, and the media contributes to a comprehensive discussion and the dissemination of valuable environmental perspectives.
