Results of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Climate Change Convention                   

                                          

On February 5, 2025, in Dushanbe, the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in cooperation with the Asian Development Bank in Tajikistan and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), held a round table on the topic "Summing up the outcomes COP29 for Tajikistan" with the participation of the CEP Chairman Mr Bahodur Sheralizoda, Director of the Asian Development Bank Country Office in Tajikistan Mr. Ko Sakamoto and Deputy Representative of UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Tajikistan Ms. Eri Dwivedi.

During the discussions, the results of the high-level event organized by the Republic of Tajikistan within the framework of COP29 – the climate action summit of world leaders called “Glaciers 2025” were summarized. This event was held with the aim of presenting in detail the UN General Assembly resolution on the proclamation of 2025 as the International Year of Glacier Preservation (IYGP), adopted on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The purpose of this event was to bring together key stakeholders, representatives of ministries and agencies of the country, experts, development partners and the private sector to discuss and analyze the results of the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and, based on the country's climate goals, identify proposals for further steps for COP30.

At this event, representatives of the Committee made 2 presentations, which outlined the following results:

- An overview of the negotiations and activities of the national pavilion of the Republic of Tajikistan within the framework of COP-29;

- The results of COP29 and their impact on climate financing by development partners;

The round table successfully considered the results of COP-29 in terms of the negotiations in the national pavilion "Glaciers-2025" and the broader impact on climate financing. The discussions not only highlighted the achievements of COP29, but also proposed further steps to prepare for COP30.

Participants agreed that strengthening these results through improved coordination, strategic planning and mobilization of international support will be important to advance Tajikistan’s climate goals and contribute to global action on climate change.
