Overview of the global initiatives of the President of Tajikistan on the sidelines of the Launch of the International Year of Glaciers Preservation in Geneva
As part of the Launch of the International Year of Glaciers, which was held in Geneva, the Swiss Confederation, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Bahodur Sheralizoda met with the heads of the organizations of the Regional Bureau of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, the European Office of the United Nations Environment Programme, as well as bilateral meetings within the framework of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands.
These meetings were held with Ms. Paola Albrito, Director of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, Dr. Musonda Mumba, Secretary-General of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, and Arnold Kreilhuber, Regional Director of the European Office of the United Nations Environment Programme.
During these meetings, the Chairman of the Committee informed his colleagues about the most important initiatives of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan H. E. Mr Emomali Rahmon on the preservation of glaciers.
The Chairman of the Committee also provided information on Tajikistan's preparations for the High-Level International Conference to be held on 29-31 May 2025 and invited delegations of participating countries to actively participate in this important event.
These meetings are an important step towards strengthening international cooperation in environmental protection and climate change and demonstrate Tajikistan's global leadership in climate change and water resources initiatives.
