On January 20, 2025, at the headquarters of the World Meteorological Organization in Geneva, Swiss Confederation, a meeting was held between the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Bahodur Sheralizoda, and the Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), Ms. Celeste Saulo.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Chairman of the Committee recalled the global initiatives of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan H. E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon related to water resources and climate, and drew special attention to the issue of holding the International Year of Glaciers in 2025 and the active participation of the World Meteorological Organization in its implementation.

During the meeting, the issue of preparation for the International High-Level Conference on Glacier Preservation (IYGP2025), which will be held in Dushanbe on May 29-31, 2025, was also discussed.

At the end of the meeting, the parties discussed other important issues, including strengthening the technical potential of the Committee's Meteorological Agency, improving the professional level of personnel, training young specialists in meteorology, climatology and hydrology. The parties expressed satisfaction with the continuation of fruitful cooperation and agreed to further expand cooperation.
