Meeting of the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan with the Chairman of COP29                 

                                          

On December 18, a meeting was held at the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan between the Chairman of the Committee, Bahodur Sheralizoda, and the Chairman of COP-29, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, Mr. Mukhtar Babayev.

The meeting addressed issues of cooperation in ecology, natural resource management, and climate change and the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two agencies.

The parties agreed to continue collaboration under Azerbaijan's chairmanship until the next COP30 in Brazil. Key cooperation topics include updating the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0), biodiversity conservation, combating desertification, and other pressing environmental issues.

In addition, the parties agreed on close cooperation within the framework of the High-Level International Conference on Glacier Preservation, scheduled for May 2025. The conference will take place in Dushanbe as part of the United Nations General Assembly resolution adopted at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, with the support of an overwhelming majority of countries.

The meeting was held in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding, and mutually beneficial solutions were reached on all discussed issues.
