Participation in the 16th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification                      

             

                                          

From December 2 to 13, 2024, the 16th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification is being held in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in which the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Qiyomzoda Zarafo Sufijon, is taking part. During the two-day meeting of ministers, Kiyomzoda Z. S. spoke at the plenary sessions.

In her speeches, Kiyomzoda Z.S. thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its hospitality and hosting of COP 16, noted the problems of drought, land degradation and the measures taken by the government to combat drought and desertification. The impact of land degradation and drought on forced migration and ways to solve these problems were also noted.

Taking this opportunity, Kiyomzoda Z.S. invited members of the delegations of the ministerial delegation to take part in the International Conference on Glacier Conservation, which will be held in May 2025 in Dushanbe.
