Discussion of global initiatives of the President of Tajikistan within the framework of strengthening bilateral cooperation on the margins of COP29                   


                                          


During COP29 held in Baku, Chairman of the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sheralizoda Bakhodur Ahmadjon held bilateral meetings with the heads of delegations of Azerbaijan, Qatar and China. At the meeting with the President of COP29 - Mr. Mukhtar Babayev, Minister of Environment and Climate Change of Qatar - H. E. Dr. Abdullah bin Turki Al-Subai, and Deputy Minister of Ecology and Environment of China - Mr. Zhao Yongming, Bahodur Sheralizoda informed his colleagues about the most important initiatives of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan His Excellency Mr Emomali Rahmon aimed at preserving glaciers.

It was noted that this initiative received absolute support from the UN General Assembly, which was officially enshrined in the relevant resolution on declaring 2025 the International Year of Glacier Conservation. The Chairman of the Committee informed his colleagues about the progress of Tajikistan's preparations for the High-Level International Conference scheduled for May 2025. He invited delegations of participating countries to join this significant event.

These meetings have become an important step for strengthening international cooperation in the fields of environmental protection and climate change, emphasizing Tajikistan's global leadership in initiatives on climate change and water issues.
