Interview on the CBC channel about the significance of the Leader of the Nation's initiative to Glacier Conservation
In an interview with CBC TV channel, media partner of COP29 in Baku, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Bahodur Sheralizoda explained the significance of the initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, respected Emomali Rahmon, to Glacier Conservation. Bahodur Sheralizoda emphasized that this initiative has found absolute support from the United Nations General Assembly, which was confirmed by the corresponding resolution declaring 2025 the International Year of Glacier Conservation.
The Chairman of the Committee also shared information on the preparations of Tajikistan for the International High-Level Conference on Glacier Conservation, which will be held in May 2025.
Ms. Yasmin Siddique, Director of the Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture Department of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), also expressed her vision and support for addressing climate-related issues and those global initiatives, in particular, the Leader of the Nation's initiative to preserve glaciers, which was supported by most UN member states.
She noted that ADB, as a climate bank, actively supports measures to adapt to climate change. In particular, she spoke about the recently adopted "From Glaciers to Farms" program, financed by ADB and the Green Climate Fund, which is aimed at integrating environmental protection and sustainable agriculture.
This interview emphasizes the importance of international cooperation and the solidarity of the world community with the global initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, esteemed Emomali Rahmon, to declare 2025 the International Year of Glacier Conservation as a measure to combat climate change and preserve natural resources.
