High-level event within the framework of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention                     

                                     

On November 13 of this year, a high-level event on “Financing for Addressing Climate Change and Glacier Protection” was held within the framework of the national pavilion of the Republic of Tajikistan in Azerbaijan.

We remind you that this event is being held within the framework of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The event was attended and addressed by the President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Mr. Alvaro Lario, the President of the Asian Development Bank Mr. Masatsugu Asakawa, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mr. Rafael Mariano Grossi and the Senior Advisor of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) on Financing Mr. Henry Gonzalez.

The purpose of this event was to present the climate finance plan for Tajikistan; identify areas of cooperation between Tajikistan and development partners to implement the NDC Implementation Plan for Tajikistan; discuss innovative ways to use and access climate finance to achieve national goals and strengthen policy dialogue on the impact of climate change on glaciers and expand international cooperation in this area.

Representatives of other international financial organizations also attended and spoke at the event.

In his speech, the Chairman of the Committee expressed gratitude to development partners, including the International Fund for Agricultural Development, the Asian Development Bank, the Green Climate Fund, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and called for action on the plan to implement the nationally determined contribution and other goals of the Republic of Tajikistan in the field of adaptation to climate change and glacier protection.

Currently, the Republic of Azerbaijan is successfully hosting events within the framework of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention.
