Meeting of the Chairman of the Committee with the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan                   

                                          

On October 29, 2024, within the framework of the 16th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, which is taking place in Cali, Republic of Colombia, a meeting was held between the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Sheralizoda Bakhodur and the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Mr. Babayev Mukhtar.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of cooperation in the field of ecology, natural resource management, climate change, including issues of adaptation to the effects of climate change, as well as the upcoming 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Baku from 11 to 22 November this year.

The parties also discussed the efforts of the Republic of Tajikistan and Azerbaijan to implement the Conventions on Biological Diversity and Combating Desertification.

The Chairman of the Committee noted the UN General Assembly resolution declaring 2025 the International Year of Glacier Conservation, which was supported by the international community on the initiative of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, esteemed Emomali Rahmon.

This meeting was held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding, the Chairman of the Committee Sheralizoda B. A. invited Mr. Babev Mukhtar to take part in the high-level international conference on glacier conservation, which, according to the UN General Assembly Resolution, will be held in Dushanbe in 2025.
