The Regional Forum on Chemicals in Plastics and Global Workshop on Plastic Waste in the Mountains                   

                                          

On November 7-9, 2024, The Regional Forum on Chemicals in Plastics and Global Workshop on Plastic Waste in the Mountains was held at the Hilton Hotel in Dushanbe.

This event was supported by the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Secretariat of the Basel, Stockholm and Rotterdam Conventions.

The Forum was opened with welcoming words by Mr. Rahmonzoda Loik Sherali, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and Mehrnoosh Azodi, representative of the Basel, Stockholm and Rotterdam Conventions.

The forum was attended by representatives of the Secretariat of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions, representatives of environmental agencies from more than 20 countries, representatives of public authorities, public organizations, countries implementing the project “Plastic Waste in Mountainous and Remote Areas”, as well as foreign experts. The participants of the event made presentations on the progress of the project, the importance of management and reduction of plastic waste and chemicals in plastic.

It should be noted that this event is held for the first time in the Republic of Tajikistan and will contribute to attracting investments in the field of plastic waste management in the Republic of Tajikistan.
