Adoption of the Fourth Environmental Performance Review of the Republic of Tajikistan
On November 7, 2024, during the 29th session of the Committee on Environmental Policy of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in Geneva, the Fourth Environmental Performance Review of Tajikistan was adopted with the participation of the leadership of the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
It should be noted that the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) was the first among 56 member states to adopt the Fourth Environmental Performance Review of Tajikistan, which indicates the successful implementation of most of the recommendations of the first, second and third reviews.
At the session of the UN European Commission, the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee Kiyomzoda Z.S. made an opening speech, and the Head of the Department of Monitoring, Environmental Policy, Meteorology and Cadastre of the Committee Shukurzoda Isfandiyar made a report on the topic "Tajikistan: Main Achievements and Environmental Challenges for Addressing Sustainable Development Goals".
The report, in particular, noted that this review contributes to the improvement of environmental management and the increase in the effectiveness of environmental protection activities. It reflects an assessment of the state's progress in the field of environmental protection, the implementation of environmental and economic objectives, as well as compliance with international obligations in all sectors.
During the consideration of this project, the recommendations of international experts on the results of environmental activities of Tajikistan were discussed and adopted by the representatives of the Committee. The review of the results of activities in the field of environmental protection in the Republic of Tajikistan emphasizes the importance of sustainable development and environmental protection for future generations.
At the meeting, it was noted that Tajikistan is proud of its achievements in the field of ecology and continues to make efforts to achieve success.
