World Food Day

                                          

Every year, October 16 is celebrated as International Food Day. This year, International Food Day was dedicated to the theme "The Right to Food". No one should be left behind.

On October 19, 2024, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Tajikistan and World Food Program organized an exhibition and events in honor of International Food Day in Iram Park in Dushanbe.

The event was attended by representatives of relevant ministries and departments and the diplomatic corps in Dushanbe, representatives of foreign and international organizations.

As part of this event, participants were presented with an exhibition of achievements in the field of access to food and healthy eating, competitions and quizzes among children and youth.

As part of the GEF-FAO project "Protecting Agrobiological Diversity for Food and Nutrition Security", which is implemented by the National Action Center for Environmental Protection of the Committee for Environmental Protection of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, an exhibition was organized where exhibits, information materials and samples of seeds of agricultural plants and their wild relatives were presented.

The Center's exhibition was visited by representatives of the embassies of Saudi Arabia, the Russian Federation, the European Union and other foreign organizations, as well as guests and participants of the event, who noted that local genetic resources are very important for food security and nutrition.
