International Seminar on Development of Marco Polo Sheep Management Program in the Republic of Tajikistan
On October 15-16, 2024, an international seminar on development of Marco Polo Sheep Management Program in the Republic of Tajikistan was held at the National Library of Tajikistan.
At the beginning of the seminar, opening speeches were made by Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Rahmonzoda Loik Sherali and representative of the Institute of Zoology and Parasitology named after E.N. Pavlovsky of the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan Muratov Rustam Sharifovich.
Representatives of government agencies, public organizations, foreign scientists and specialists took part in the seminar. A representative of NAST made a presentation on the importance of preserving the Marco Polo Mountain sheep (argali).
The workshop expressed the need to develop a management program for Marco Polo Mountain sheep (argali) in the Republic of Tajikistan in cooperation with the workshop participants, and a review of the action plan on this issue was conducted.
The Marco Polo Sheep (Argali) Management Program in the Republic of Tajikistan is planned for 2025-2030.
