Pre-COP29 National Conference: Tajikistan's Roadmap for the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change
On October 14, 2024, the Hyatt Regency Hotel hosted the Pre-COP29 National Conference: Tajikistan's Roadmap for the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
This conference was held at the initiative of the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and in cooperation with development partners with the participation of representatives of the country's ministries and departments, youth and the private sector.
The event began with an opening speech by a representative of the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, speeches by a representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Tajikistan, the Government of Switzerland and the Aga Khan Development Network in Tajikistan.
The purpose of the conference was to discuss the activities of the Republic of Tajikistan in combating climate problems, issues of presenting the country's progress and achievements at previous sessions of the Conference of the Parties, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and best practices related to adaptation to climate change, protection of vulnerable groups, especially children.
At this event, Committee specialists, development partners and youth made a presentation on the following topics:
- an overview of the Glacier Pavilion -2025 at COP 29;
- development and progress of the first biennial transparency report in Tajikistan;
- progress in implementing Tajikistan's Nationally Determined Contribution;
- UNICEF data on the impact of climate on children;
- achievements of the Aga Khan Development Agency in combating climate change;
- current status and data on the National Adaptation Plan (NAP);
- action plan of the youth delegation on water and climate issues.
