International Conference on Snow Leopard Protection was held in Dushanbe
On October 14, an international conference on the protection of snow leopard ecosystems was held in Dushanbe with the participation of representatives from 12 countries of the snow leopard's range.
At the conference, welcoming speeches were made by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Ziyozoda Sulaimon Rizoi, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection, Kiyomzoda Zarafo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Walid ibn Abdurrahman Ar-Reshaidon, and a representative of the Global Snow Leopard Ecosystem Conservation Program, Mr. Kustubh Sharma.
The conference featured presentations and reports from countries on methods for preserving snow leopard ecosystems and their prey, and discussed national action plans for the conservation of snow leopard ecosystems and priority areas for regional cooperation.
The parties came to a unanimous agreement to further strengthen cooperation and exchange experience on advanced methods for preserving high-mountain ecosystems, preserving rare animal species, in particular snow leopard ecosystems.
