Meeting of the Board of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea in Astana
On September 18 this year, a meeting of the Board of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea was held in the capital of Kazakhstan, which was attended by representatives of the Fund's member countries, including Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Ziyozoda Sulaimon Rizoi, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection Bakhodur Sheralizoda and a representative of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources.
At the meeting, 6 final decisions were signed, the Work Plan of the Executive Committee, a report on the implementation of the Action Program to Assist the Countries of the Aral Sea Basin (ASBP-4) and a report on the results of the implementation of the Central Asian Hydrometeorological Service Modernization Project (CAHMP) were approved.
As part of the meeting, an important meeting of the Coordination Council was held with the participation of international donors and project partners within the framework of the activities of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, which made it possible to discuss initiatives aimed at saving and restoring the ecosystem in the Aral Sea basin region.
Overall, the meeting of the Board of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea in Astana was an important step towards preserving the lake and improving the situation in the region. The participants of the event expressed their willingness to cooperate and contribute to the implementation of the tasks set before the fund in order to save a unique water body – the Aral Sea.
