Roundtable on Climate Finance in the Republic of Tajikistan
On July 9, 2024, a roundtable on “Tajikistan’s Nationally Determined Contribution Climate Finance Plan: Transition from Planning to Implementation” was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dushanbe with the participation and presentations of the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Sheralizoda Bakhodur Ahmadjon, Deputy Minister of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan Khairullozoda Shamsullo Khairullo and Country Director of the Asian Development Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan Shanni Campbell, with the participation of representatives of a number of ministries and departments of the country, development partners, the private sector and other stakeholders.
The purpose of this event was to present the climate finance plan and discuss its implementation in practice together with key stakeholders. Holding such events will help the Republic of Tajikistan identify key partners for the implementation of its national commitments under the Paris Agreement.
In addition, the event highlighted the importance of cooperation to achieve climate goals. In particular, it was noted that Tajikistan's commitment to combating climate change contributes to sustainable development, and only with international support can we achieve our goals.
Through this event, the Committee and stakeholders opened avenues for attracting climate finance and accelerated progress towards a sustainable future.
