Measures and practical steps to increase resilience to the risks of climate change instability and develop national adaptation planning in priority sectors of the economy of the Republic of Tajikistan
On February 21, 2024, the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, with technical support from the UN Development Program in Tajikistan and financial assistance from the Green Climate Fund and the European Commission, held a practical seminar on the topic “Measures and practical steps to increase risk resilience instability of climate change and the development of national adaptation planning in priority sectors of the economy of the Republic of Tajikistan.”
The seminar was attended by members of the working group for the development of the National Adaptation Plan of the Republic of Tajikistan, representatives of the Syrdarya River Basin Organization, public and international organizations, and academia.
During the seminar, participants presented the results of the study, which reflected adaptation measures to climate change in terms of introducing new technologies, improving infrastructure and databases, increasing capacity, improving regulatory aspects, institutional mechanisms, and climate finance in adopted strategies, programs, laws, codes and regulations of key sectors of the economy. Also, during the work of small groups, participants proposed additional recommendations on adaptation measures in the planned regulatory documents of key sectors of the economy as part of the implementation of the National Adaptation Plan.
During the seminar, summarizing the results of analytical work regarding the integration of climate change into policy and taking into account adaptation to climate change in planning and budgeting in the water sector were also presented.
