Scientific and practical conference “The role of cities in the implementation of green initiatives: the experience of Dushanbe” dedicated to the “International Glacier Preservation Day”                   

                                          

Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Bahodur Sheralizoda took part in a scientific and practical conference on the topic “The role of cities in the implementation of green initiatives: the experience of Dushanbe”, dedicated to the “International Day for the Protection of Glaciers”, held on the initiative of the Executive government authority of the city of Dushanbe together with the Committee at the Hyatt Regency Dushanbe hotel.

The conference was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Ziyozoda Sulaimon Rizoi, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Sheralizoda Bahodur Ahmadjon, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Imomi Sodik Ashurboyzoda, First Deputy Chairman of the city of Dushanbe Tabarzoda Jamshed Afzal and other leaders ministries and committees, local authorities, diplomatic corps, and international organizations.

In the speech of the Chairman of the Committee, special attention was paid to the global initiative of the Founder of Peace and National Unity-Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, to declare the International Year of Glacier Protection in 2025 following the resolution of the UN General Assembly.

It should be noted that the theme of this conference determined the goals of declaring 2025 “International Year of Glacier Protection”, March 21 as “World Glacier Day”, and March 22 as “World Water Day”.

At the same time, the initiative to hold the “Year of Environmental Education” in the city of Dushanbe in 2024 and the implementation of other global international initiatives of the Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, on climate issues was highlighted.

At this conference, representatives of relevant structures and experts made speeches and presentations on thematic areas of this event.
