Activation of surveillance cameras in the city of Dushanbe
In order to implement the instructions of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, by decision given in the Address to Majlisi Oli, the Chairman of the city of Dushanbe, 2024 was declared the Year of Environmental Education. As part of this year, environmental protection, landscaping, construction, landscaping, and other environmental activities are being carried out.
In this regard, the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan decided to contribute to the transformation of Dushanbe, the capital of the Republic of Tajikistan, into a green city. In order to create a healthy environment and increase the environmental consciousness of the population and respect the culture of citizens, it was decided to install surveillance cameras at 50 vulnerable points to monitor waste removal in microdistricts of the capital.
For this purpose, on March 20, 2024, the Chairman of the Committee on Environmental Protection, Sheralizoda Bahodur, and the Deputy Chairman of the city of Dushanbe, Rahimzoda Tolib, activated a monitoring center for surveillance cameras administered by the Main Department of Environmental Protection in Dushanbe.
The equipment and cameras of this Center are active 24 hours a day, and records of its control from established points are stored in a database for monitoring. The center was created as a structure of the Main Department of Environmental Protection of the city of Dushanbe, with 4 jobs.
Such an environmental measure allows us to identify violations of environmental legislation, especially the placement of waste in unidentified places, due to which immediate action will be taken against violators.
Further activities of surveillance cameras will play an important role in improving the environmental condition of the capital and reducing violations of the law in the direction of placing garbage in vulnerable places.
It is worth noting that this equipment was purchased at the expense of the project “Adaptation to climate change and reducing its impact in the Aral Sea Basin”, which is being implemented by the Committee for Environmental Protection, and installation and installation were carried out by domestic companies.
We emphasize that, with the support of the leadership of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, small garbage cans have been installed on the protocol streets of the capital, and more than 6-7 thousand ornamental seedlings have been planted in various areas of the city during the gardening season.
It should be noted that this action is not the first; it was decided to take further necessary measures in order to prevent crime, carry out constant monitoring and maintain the city’s environment clean and tidy.
