Meeting with the President of the World Bank Group Ajay Banga
On December 3, the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon met with the President of the World Bank Group Ajay Banga in Dubai within the framework of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
At the meeting, the issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and this authoritative financial organization were discussed.
In this context, the Head of our state highly appreciated the contribution of the World Bank in financing the implementation of measures to adapt to and prevent the consequences of climate change.
The President of the country, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, called the World Bank one of the main development partners of Tajikistan and expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation with the Bank.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current situation of cooperation in the areas of water and energy, agriculture, environment and rural development, economic policy, development of health, education, urban development, and poverty reduction.
During the conversation, the Leader of the Nation emphasized the need to resume the implementation of the CASA-1000 transmission line project connecting the energy market of Central and South Asia through Afghanistan.
Currently, the Bank is financing 28 projects in Tajikistan for a total amount of 1.5 billion US dollars.
Implementation of inclusive and structural reforms of the country's economy, especially in the areas of electric communication, digitalization, civil aviation, and improvement of investment climate were named as one of the important areas of cooperation with the World Bank.
During the meeting, the two sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
At the end of the conversation, the Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon invited the President of the World Bank Group, Ajay Bangoo, to pay a visit to Tajikistan. The invitation was accepted with satisfaction.
