HIGH-LEVEL REGIONAL MEETING ON PANDEMIC PREVENTION, PROTECTING FOOD SYSTEMS AND ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION UNDER THE “ONE HEALTH PROGRAM IN CENTRAL ASIA”
On November 28-29, 2023, a high-level regional meeting on preventing future pandemics, protecting food systems and environment protection, organized by the World Bank, was held in Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan.
The meeting was attended by more than 50 representatives of specialized organizations from healthcare, agriculture, food security and environmental protection from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan countries, as well as experts and representatives of international organizations.
From the Republic of Tajikistan, a working group of 8 people representing from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Health, Food Committee and Committee for Environmental Protection took part in the meeting.
At the meeting, the Action Plan under the One Health in Central Asia program towards the prevention of zoonotic diseases, protection of food systems and the environment protection was presented and discussed.
In the plenary sessions, the Deputy Chairman of the Environmental Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mavlodod Abdulkadir, spoke on the issues of pandemic prevention, the study of zoonotic diseases and their impact on domestic animals and wild animals, migratory birds and areas of cooperation with relevant ministries and government agencies.
Following the meeting, a ceremony was held to sign the Cooperation Agreement within the framework of the “One Health in Central Asia” Program with the participation of the vice-chairmen of the Central Asian countries.
