Training seminar on "Climate finance"                   

                                          

On November 8, 2023, at the initiative of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and with the support of the Asian Development Bank, a training seminar on “climate finance” was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dushanbe with the participation of international experts and representatives of relevant ministries and departments.

Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Sheralizoda Bahodur Ahmadjon and Country Director of the Permanent Mission of the Asian Development Bank in Tajikistan Shanny Campbell spoke at the opening of this event.

In particular, it was noted that climate change negatively affects the quantity and quality of water resources, the country's economic sectors, and the health of the population. To prevent these unpleasant consequences, national development programs and action plans are being implemented in the Republic of Tajikistan, including environmental improvement, desertification, water and land management, floods, as well as raising environmental awareness of the population.

Then international experts and industry specialists spoke on the topic of the seminar. The main purpose of this training seminar is to increase the level of education and strengthen the knowledge of participants about climate finance, as well as to consider the problems and opportunities of attracting capital for priority areas of contribution, fixed at the national level.
