Environmental action dedicated to the "Day of the Syrdarya River"                 

                                          

Environmental action dedicated to the "Day of the Syrdarya River" was held in the cultural and entertainment park "Navruzgoh" in Khujand with the participation of the Main Department of Environmental Protection in the Sughd region and the Regional Department of Water Management of the Syrdarya basin, the Public Organization "Youth Group for Environmental Protection" with the support of the Association "Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation".

The Syrdarya River Day holiday is celebrated for the second year in October to show the importance of water resources. After the end of the summer vacation season, the coastal areas of the city park are cleared of plastic and other debris as part of the campaign. The action involves young people and a wide range of nature lovers. In addition to cleaning the banks of the Syr Darya, a quiz is held among students, the winners of which will receive prizes.

More than 70 students of the Ecologist Club of the Faculty of Geoecology of Academician B.Gafurov Khujand State University, members of the Ecoclub of the Mining and Metallurgical Institute of Tajikistan and eco-activist students majoring in Industrial ecology and rational use of Natural Resources of the Polytechnic Institute of the Technical University of Tajikistan named after Academician M.S.Osimi, as well as more than 30 representatives of environmental protection bodies, public and international organizations.

As a result of the landscaping, 100 bags of garbage were collected and taken to the official landfill, two special boxes for plastic containers were installed.

The quiz contest was held with the support of employees of Arvand Bank, at the same time representatives of the IT RUN organization handed one student from each university a free certificate for training in the IT course.

It is worth noting that environmental actions in order to implement the points of the action plan "Comprehensive State Program for the development of environmental education and education of the population of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2025" and to ensure the implementation of the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On Environmental education of the population", contribute to improving the level of environmental education of young people, especially students and students.
