The first Youth Forum on the Syr River Basin – 2023                   

                                          

"The first Youth Forum on the Syr River Basin – 2023" was held at the Educational Center of the National Bank in Guliston with the support of development partners and the assistance of the Main Department of Environmental Protection in Sughd region, the Regional Department of Education, the Center for Additional Education and Water Resources Management of the Syrdarya basin.

The purpose of this conference is to raise awareness and involve young people in integrated water resources management in the context of climate change. This forum was held within the framework of the implementation of the "National Water Resources Management Project in Tajikistan", which is funded by the Swiss Development Agency, and on the implementation of the points of the action plan of the "Comprehensive State Program for the Development of Environmental Education and Education of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2025".

The forum was attended by students from 11 cities and districts of Sughd region located in the areas of the Syr River basin, members of the environmental movement "Green Observers" from educational institutions and a group of active youth of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In total, 300 people took part in the event, according to the forum program, students of the Green Observers movement held practical and educational classes, as well as presented videos and presentations of their annual work plans.

It is worth noting that all 11 teachers and the "Green Observers" team from cities and districts participating in the forum were presented with the Red Book of the Republic of Tajikistan by a representative of the Main Department of Environmental Protection of the region.

In general, the Consortium of the National Water Resources Management Project Helvetas and ACTED, the UNDP Regional Office in Sughd region, the International Water Secretariat and the Public Organization Youth Group for Environmental Protection were involved in organizing and holding the "First Youth Forum on the Syr River Basin – 2023".
