Round table on the development of the third edition Red Data Book of the Republic of Tajikistan                  


                                          


On October 4, 2023, at the initiative of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, a round table was held at the Asia Grand Hotel in Dushanbe with the participation of 40 scientists, specialists and experts from the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, specialized ministries and departments and scientists from the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan.

The round table was opened with a welcoming speech by the Vice-President of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, Mr. Abdusattor Saidov, who spoke about the Red Book and its role and objectives for the protection and conservation of rare species of flora and fauna and the country’s natural resources generally. Also, the Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Mavlodod Abdulkodir, made a speech and noted in his speech that the Red Book is considered an important state document that ensures the protection and preservation and adoption of the necessary measures for the protection and rational use of flora and fauna and In general, biological diversity in the Red Book of Tajikistan summarizes all available information about the status, distribution, condition of the group, changes in the number of rare and rare animals and plants, determining further research tasks and determining the main ways of their protection and reproduction.

During the round table, the working groups presented reports and information on research and expeditionary work carried out in various regions of Tajikistan, which were carried out to study and determine the current state of rare species of flora and fauna.

It was noted that the new edition of the Red Book of the Republic of Tajikistan will include 304 species of plants and 253 species of rare animals that are under threat of extinction, and some species of plants and animals will be excluded from the Red Book of Tajikistan due to their current status.
