Meeting of the Inter-state Commission on Sustainable Development of the Central Asian Countries
On September 5, 2023, a meeting of the Interstate Commission on Sustainable Development of the Central Asian Countries (ICSD) was held in Astana, the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The meeting was attended by heads of environmental agencies of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and representatives of ministries of the economic bloc of Central Asian countries. Mavlodod A., Deputy Chairman of the Environmental Protection Committee of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, represented the Republic of Tajikistan at the meeting.
The meeting heard a progress report on the implementation of the ICSD Work Plan 2022-2024 and discussed the establishment of the Regional Centre for Waste Management in Dushanbe.
The purpose of the meeting of the Inter-state Commission on Sustainable Development was to review the implementation of the ICSD Work Plan and the decisions of the previous meeting of the ICSD and to define further measures for the implementation of the Regional Environmental Protection Programme for sustainable development, as well as other related issues and the region.
Following the meeting, decisions were signed, including on the issues discussed at the IFAS summit, which will be held on September 14-15 this year in Dushanbe.
