Information about the nomination of the State Nature Reserve "Tigrovaya Balka"
The issue of including the Tigrova Balka State Nature Reserve in the UNESCO World Heritage Register will be discussed at the World Heritage Session, which will be held from September 10 to 25, 2023 in Saudi Arabia.
It should be noted that environmental issues are under constant attention of the State and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, as part of the implementation of the instructions and instructions of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Leader of the Nation, dear Emomali Rahmon, and the protocol instructions of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, preparations for the submission of the Tigrova Balka State Nature Reserve for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage Register began in 2021.
Therefore, by order of the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, a special working group was created at the expense of the Committee's staff and specialists from among the researchers of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and national experts in the field of specially protected natural territories to prepare and submit the nomination of the Tigrovaya Balka State Reserve to the UNESCO World Heritage Register.
The nomination of the Tigrovaya Balka Nature Reserve was presented by the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan to the National Commission of Tajikistan for UNESCO, and then the National Commission was presented to the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO.
According to a letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO considered the nomination of the State Nature Reserve "Tigrovaya Balka" and assessed it as technically fully compliant with UNESCO requirements.
In this regard, the Committee for Environmental Protection, acting appropriately, at the request of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, prepared additional materials for the nomination of the Tigrovaya Balka State Reserve and provided it to the UNESCO World Heritage Center in Paris by diplomatic means within the established time frame.
As it was noted at the beginning, the issue of entering the nomination of the Tigrovaya Balka State Reserve into the UNESCO World Heritage Register will be considered at a large World Heritage session to be held from September 10 to 25, 2023 in Saudi Arabia.
