Opening of a snow leopard rehabilitation and breeding center in the Murgab district of GBAO
As part of the working trip of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the respected Emomali Rahmon, to the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, a number of facilities were put into operation in the Murghab region in accordance with the Action Plan to prepare for a worthy meeting of the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan.
On August 14 this year, the Snow Leopard Rehabilitation and Breeding Center was opened in the Murgab district of GBAO, established by the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan with the aim of treating and rehabilitating rare animals of the region, including the snow leopard.
The center treats and then releases into the wild rare animals that are injured or prone to disease in various cases.
It should be noted that one of the main goals of this Center is breeding and increasing the number of snow leopards in the mountains, conducting educational and scientific activities with the involvement of domestic and foreign scientists.
In order to temporarily stay rare animals and provide them with food in the rehabilitation center, the Committee for Environmental Protection in the Ishkashim district of GBAO provides for the construction of an auxiliary farm in which small animals, mainly rabbits, are bred.
The created conditions allow domestic and foreign tourists to visit the rehabilitation center where rare animals are kept with interest.
The total area of the Center for Rehabilitation and Breeding of the Snow Leopard in the Murgob District is 10 hectares, as part of this jubilee facility, high-quality work was done to organize an area for walking the snow leopard 1100 m2, the usable area for hunting the snow leopard is 7 hectares or 70,000 m2, stone paths 80 m2, high-level lights for lighting, parking for cars, surveillance cameras, fencing about 6900 m2, etc.
The Murgab region, its characteristic nature and climate, as well as rare animals such as the snow leopard and Marco Polo (Pamir sheep), other rare animals brightly advertise Tajikistan in the world.
