Participation of young ecologists of Kanibadam and Khujand in the Tenth Ecological Camp "Our Green House - 2023"
During the 2022-2023 academic year, the youth movement "Green Observers" was created in 6 educational institutions in Kanibadam. It included active students interested in ecology and its problems. During the last academic year, students received additional knowledge about ecology, participated in environmental campaigns to collect plastic and paper waste, and also regularly organized subbotniks. In addition, a number of events were held, including the "Eco-quiz" - KVN, the "Nature Lovers" festival and other events in which the "Green Observers" teams of these educational institutions took part and won first places.
With the onset of summer and the end of the school year, the 10th environmental camp “Our Green Home - 2023” was organized in the “Shahin” camp in the city of Guliston on the initiative of the “Youth Group for Environmental Protection” NGO, out of 80 applications, 26 participants were selected through a competition. Also, with the support of the chairman of the Sughd region, Rajabboy Ahmadzod, 4 members of the "Green Observers" from educational institutions of the city of Khujand received tickets to the eco-camp, which was presented to them by the Center for Additional Education on the occasion of the International Children's Day of the region.
In total, 30 students, activists of the Green Observers movement, from July 31 to August 4, 2023, were divided into teams and worked together for five days.
It is worth noting that at the opening and completion of the environmental camp, the representative of the Main Directorate for Environmental Protection in the region, the head of the OSCE Program Department in Dushanbe, the OSCE project consultant in Bishkek, the head of the UN Office in the Sughd region, the editor-in-chief of the regional newspaper "Sughd Truth", director Meteorological Center in the region, a representative of the American Center in Khujand, an environmental expert, representatives of the Mining and Metallurgical Institute of Tajikistan in the city of Buston, the director of the public organization "Safi" and others.
All camp participants were awarded "Certificates" from the head of the Main Department of Environmental Protection in the region and the director of the NGO "Youth Group for Environmental Protection".
The environmental camp "Our Green Home - 2023" within the framework of the project "Promoting the protection of water resources through the formation of a careful attitude to water and the promotion of innovative solutions for the rational use of water in the Ferghana Valley" is supported by the USAID Water and Environment Project and becomes a motivation for sustainable development and green future of young ecologists.
