The next meeting of the interdepartmental working group on "Environmental protection, emergency situations and climate change" on the implementation of the "National Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030"                       

                                          

On August 8, 2023, a regular meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group "Environmental Protection, Emergencies and Climate Change" for the implementation of the "National Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030" was held within the framework of the National Development Council under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan at the initiative of the Committee for Environmental Protection environment under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade with the support of the United Nations Development Program in Tajikistan.

The meeting was attended by representatives of ministries and departments, development partners, public organizations and civil society.

The meeting with opening speeches was opened by the head of the working group - the first deputy chairman of the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Kiemzoda Zarafo Sufijon, the coordinator of the Secretariat of the National Development Council Kamoliddin Bozi and the head of the Main Directorate for the Protection of Population and Territory of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense, General -Major Kamolzoda Jamshed, who noted the importance of environmental protection, biodiversity, rational use of natural resources, ensuring the comprehensiveness of actions to restore disturbed natural ecological systems, increasing the level of preparedness to counteract natural disasters and climate change, as well as an early warning system for natural disaster risks within the framework of the Medium-Term Development Program of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2025 and the Sustainable Development Goals.

In his speech, the head of the Department for Monitoring, Environmental Policy, Hydrometeorology and Cadastre of the Committee Shukurov Isfandier focused on the tasks of the interdepartmental working group No. 11 "Environmental protection, emergencies and climate change" to implement the "National Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030", it was noted that it is necessary to coordinate all interdepartmental groups on sectoral issues within this group and effectively carry out its activities.

The meeting discussed the process of implementing the action plan of the medium-term development program of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2025. Further at the meeting, experts spoke on the topics “Content of the state environmental program of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2023-2028”, “Protection and conservation of biodiversity and sustainable use of natural resources”, “Biodiversity - integration of measures to restore disturbed natural ecosystems”, “Mission to strengthen the system coordination and cooperation on climate change and disaster risk early warning systems”, “Renewal of the nationally determined contribution (NDC) to achieve the global goal of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) from the Republic of Tajikistan” and “Content of the draft National Plan on adaptation to climate change”.
