On August 25, 2023 in Vancouver, Canada, H.E. Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau held the closing ceremony of the 7th Assembly of the Global Environment Facility, which was attended by a delegation of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.

It should be noted that within the framework of participation in the 7th Assembly of the Global Environment Facility, the Chairman of the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Sheralizoda Bahodur held bilateral meetings with the Secretary of the Convention on Biodiversity, Mr. David Cooper, Ms. Jo Puri, Vice President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development, Mr. Germán Velasquez, Director of Division of Mitigation and Adaptation of the Green Climate Fund, Ms. Maria Helena Semedo, Deputy Global Director of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and Ms. Valerie Hickey, Global Director for Environment, Natural Resources and the Blue Economy of the World Bank.

During the meetings, the parties paid special attention to the issues of climate change, loss of biological diversity, environmental pollution and other important topical issues. Also within the framework of the above meetings, the Chairman of the Committee Sheralizoda B.A. mentioned the country's global initiatives to promote and address water and climate issues at the global level and expressed hope for support in their implementation from environmental funds and development partners.

It should be recalled that the Global Environment Facility Assembly is held every four years, where ministers of environment from 185 countries gathered from August 22 to 26 in Vancouver, Canada, for the 7th Assembly of the Global Environment Facility, during which a ceremony was held to ratify the launch of the Global Biodiversity Facility Framework Fund (GBFF), which will help invest in biodiversity protection in developing countries.
