Meeting with employees of the Central Mosque of Dushanbe on environmental issues                  

                                          

On July 19 of this year, at the initiative of the Aarhus Center of the Committee, together with the Scientific and Production SUE “Tabiat”, an informational meeting was organized and held in the central mosque of Dushanbe with the administration and employees of this religious organization in order to implement the principles of the Aarhus Convention in Tajikistan on the topic "Improving environmental literacy of the population and effective implementation of environmental activities in the Republic of Tajikistan"..

The head of the HR department-lawyer of this organization Mahmudov Nazim opened the event with an introductory speech. It was noted that the total area of the territory of the central mosque of Dushanbe is 13 hectares and the administration of the organization pays special attention to the issues of landscaping and environmental cleanliness. About 30 employees are involved in landscaping, cleaning and landscaping.

Then the responsible of the Aarhus Center of the Committee J. Yakubov spoke about Tajikistan's global initiatives in the field of water and climate, Tajikistan's membership in international environmental conventions, the goals and principles of the Aarhus Convention, the efforts of the leadership of the Committee for Environmental Protection in the implementation of environmental policy, especially ensuring environmental safety of the population and environmental health.

The Director of the Scientific and Production SUE "Tabiat" A. Karimov presented a report on the principles of the "green" economy and the process of development and implementation of the principles of the "green" economy in Tajikistan.

At the end of the meeting, representatives of the Committee presented the Red Book of the Republic of Tajikistan in two volumes to the library of the Central Mosque of Dushanbe. At the same time, information leaflets were distributed to visitors of the mosque under the titles "Religion is purity! Therefore, maintaining the cleanliness of the environment is a sign of faith" and "The harm of plastic to the environment and health."
