Conference dedicated to the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development", 2018-2028             

As part of the Action Plan for the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development", 2018-2028, on March 9, 2023, a training conference of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan on "Priority measures for adaptation to climate change in the water sector of the Republic of Tajikistan" was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dushanbe.

The conference was held with the support of the UNDP/GCF Project "Ensuring an effective process of developing a National Adaptation Plan for Tajikistan" of the United Nations Development Program in Tajikistan, which was attended by representatives of relevant ministries and departments.

The event was attended by industry experts and experts on important environmental issues, including monitoring the quality of surface waters, the study of glaciers, the provision of water use services, adaptation to climate change and other water-related issues.

It was noted that the consistent initiatives of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan on water issues attracted the attention of the worlds and made the policy of international organizations inclined to search for solutions to water-related problems at the global level.

The Deputy Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Tajikistan, Ms. Eliza Kalkatera, took part in this event and expressed satisfaction with the cooperation between UNDP in Tajikistan and the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and also noted that this cooperation will be further strengthened in the future.
