Watching the Toxic Legacy Documentary film                                                               

On January 20 of this year, an illustrated version of a documentary film on persistent organic pollutants (POPs) entitled “Toxic heritage”, developed by the creative representative of “Vecherniy Dushanbe” LLC.

Before the screening of the film, Gulnora Amirshoeva, General Director of Vecherny Dushanbe LLC, in her opening speech, thanked the leadership of the Committee for Environmental Protection for their support and mutually beneficial cooperation in the preparation of this film. Director of the "National Center for the Implementation of the Stockholm Convention on POPs" Juraev A., in his speech mentioned that in past years, especially during the Soviet Union, pesticides and aggressive chemicals were constantly used to obtain a good harvest and provide the population with agricultural products.

Pesticides, including organochlorine pesticides belonging to POPs, entered the Republic of Tajikistan in the 80s and 90s of the last century in a concentrated manner, from other states, with a high sense of responsibility for storage, efficient use and accurate calculation by the RPNO “Tajikselkhozchemistry ". POPs pesticides are not currently exported or imported.

The film "Toxic Legacy" is dedicated to the toxic facilities of Tajikistan with obsolete drugs that we inherited from the former Soviet Union. These wastes pose a serious threat to public health and the environment in rural areas of Tajikistan. The film, created by Vecherny Dushanbe LLC, is aimed at raising the level of information and environmental education of the society.
