From December 15 to 17, 2022, the High-Level Segment of the 15th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity began its work with a video message from the President of the People's Republic of China and other senior officials from the Government of Canada and the United Nations.

The representative of the Republic of Tajikistan, within the framework of the High Level Segment, made a statement to the international community on the importance of adopting the Global Biodiversity Framework and taking into account components such as finance, capacity and technology transfer.

During the speech, it was noted that in order to achieve the set global goals, the contribution and active assistance of the international community to the countries in a state of economic transition is appropriate.

The Republic of Tajikistan, within the scope of fulfilling its obligations under the UN Convention on Biological Diversity and achieving the global goals of protecting 30 percent of land, expands specially protected natural areas. Thus, from 2.8 percent of the country's specially protected natural territories in 1991 to 22 percent of the country's territory in 2021.

In the end, the representative of the Republic of Tajikistan suggested that by attracting resources, increasing access and a clear financing plan in the direction of biodiversity and accelerating progress in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Agenda until 2030, more attention should be paid, especially to countries with economies in transition.
