Seminar on the project "Demonstration of non-thermal processing of waste containing dichlorodiphenyl-trichloromethylmethane in the countries of Central Asia"                                 

On December 12 this year, at the Hilton Hotel in Dushanbe, with the participation of representatives of relevant ministries and departments, a national guiding seminar of the project “Demonstration of non-thermal processing of waste containing dichlorodiphenyl-trichloromethylmethane in the countries of Central Asia” was held.

At the beginning of the seminar, the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Kiyemzoda Zarafo Sufijon spoke, which, that the attention of the Government of Tajikistan is directed to the implementation of the state policy on environmental protection on multilateral and modern approaches in the process of solving global and national environmental problems. It was noted that over the years of independence of the Republic of Tajikistan in our country, a legislative and institutional framework has been formed for the successful implementation of laws, decisions and obligations of the republic on the implementation of environmental conventions and agreements.

To date, Tajikistan has joined 10 international conventions that are part of the national legal system. For the effective implementation of the Stockholm Convention "On Persistent Organic Pollutants", an action plan has been approved and is being implemented to fulfill obligations.

At the same time, Dean Mohammed Nekkhoh, Director of the Representative Office of the Swiss Foundation for Mine Action in the Republic of Tajikistan (FSD), expressed his opinion in the context of cooperation and in connection with this topic.

Then the director of the State Institution "National Center for the Implementation of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants Juraev Abdusalim, the project manager for the United Nations European Program (UNEP) Wouter Pronk, technical consultants - mentors of the project from the FSD made presentations on the implementation of programs in Central Asia. Mike Barry expressed his views on the issues discussed.

The workshop emphasized that effective management of toxicological substances requires an integrated approach and advanced disinfection technologies.
