Post COP 27 round table on Outcomes and Implications was held on December 6, 2022 in the  Hilton hotel

                             

The main purpose of this event, which was initiated by the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is to present the outcomes of Tajikistan Pavilion at COP27 and cover decisions of Sharm-El-Sheikh Implementation Plan.

For the first time in the history of UNFCCC COPs Tajikistan has been represented with its National Pavilion that housed more than 20 side-events and more than 30 bilateral meetings. The outcomes of Tajikistan Pavilion were highlighted by Committee’s representatives in their presentation:

•         Improved the visibility of Tajikistan’s initiatives on climate adaptation and attracted international attention to the Initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on declaring 2 0 2 5 t h e “International Year for the Protection of Glaciers” and establishment of a specialized "International Fund for the Protection of Glaciers".

•         Served as a platform for practitioners and experts across all sectors and levels to share experiences, lessons learned, best practices, and ideas for better policies to advance implementation on Climate Action.

•         Hosted 21 side events in cooperation with partners Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan, The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), The Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), The Aga Khan Agency for Habitat (AKAH), The Office of the High Representative for the Least developed countries, landlocked developing countries and small island developing states (UNORHLLS), World Meteorological Organization (WMO), The Ministry of the Environment of the Republic of Armenia, The International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (EC IFAS).

The event was opened with opening remarks by the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Sheralizoda Bahodur Ahmadjon and UNDP Resident Representative Mr. Lenni Montiel. Also at the event were the first deputy of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan Shoimzoda Jamshed, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Timothy Marschall Jones, the country director of the German Society for International Cooperation in the Republic of Tajikistan Sabine Olthof, the representative of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization in the Republic of Tajikistan Oleg Guchgeldiev, the director of the United States Agency for International Development in the Republic of Tajikistan Peter Riley, director of the representative office of the Aga Khan Agency "Habitat" in the Republic of Tajikistan Nawab Ali Khan, head of the representative office of the International Organization for Migration Cristina Gheorghe Tranka and others participated.
