Holding a side event on “Leveraging Nationally Determined Contributions to achieve net-zero emissions and transitioning to clean energy globally» at the Tajikistan Pavilion
On November 15 this year, the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme in the Republic of Tajikistan (UNDP), held a side event on “Intensifying the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions to achieve net zero emissions and transition to clean energy around the world» at the National Pavilion, which is organized by the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan under the framework of the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 27).
This side event highlighted the role of collaboration, joint coordinated regional and global effort to achieve tangible results in the areas of climate change adaptation, mitigation and reduction of the global temperature increase. It was also discussed ways to enhance the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions to achieve zero emissions and transition to clean energy.
It should be noted that Jamshed Shoimzoda, First Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Pradeep Kurukulasuriya, Director of Nature, Climate and Energy, Executive Coordinator for Environmental Finance of UNDP, Ms. Gabriella Blatter, Council Member of the Global Environment Facility and Sino Tokhirzoda, Head of Nationally Determined Contributions Secretariat in the Republic of Tajikistan took part and performed at this event.
