Action Plan to Reduce Plastic Waste 2022-2027 in the spotlight
The issue of handling plastics, especially polyethylene or plastic bags, is the focus of the Committee for Environmental Protection.
In order to implement the instructions of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan and in accordance with the order of the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, an interdepartmental working group was created with the involvement of specialists who are studying the issue of a phased transition from the use of plastic bags to environmentally friendly packaging.
On this issue, the Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mavlodod Abdukadirkhan, in his opening speech at the round table discussion on the Action Plan for the reduction of plastic waste for the period 2022-2027, which was held on August 23 this year at the Hilton Hotel, expressed your opinion.
At the same time, the OSCE Representative in Dushanbe, Filippo Criveri, in his opening remarks, noted the importance of the issue for those present.
Head of the Department of State Control over Waste Management, Use and Protection of Lands of the Committee Naimjon Naimzoda spoke about the goals and objectives of the Action Plan to reduce plastic waste for the period 2022-2027, a representative of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan on the topic “Socio-economic situation of plastic products ”, a representative of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan on the topic “Main problems in the field of plastic waste management” and the head of the Aarhus Center of the Committee J. Yakubov on the topic “Participation of civil society in the fight against plastic waste”, listened to reports and presentations on these issues .
To intensify this work, representatives of government organizations and departments decided to create a coordination center for handling plastic waste.
