Forum "Water and mountains: the road to sustainable development"                                               

On 6 June 2022, the Second International High-Level Conference on the International Decade of Action "Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028" was held at the Serena-Dushanbe Hotel, where the Forum "Water and Mountains: the path to sustainable development" was attended and delivered an opening speech by Sheralizoda Bahodur Ahmajon, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of Tajikistan.

The forum was organized by UNESCO and the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia in cooperation with the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of Tajikistan and the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan.

Ms. Natalia Herman, UN Special Representative for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia, and Shamila Nair-Bedouel, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences, spoke at the beginning of the event.

Then a presentation was made by Kavis Baseswar, a member of the UN Water Conference 2023 Core Group, the Netherlands. This Forum included an exchange of views on global, regional, and local perspectives.

In the end, other issues on the agenda were discussed and the positions of country representatives were agreed upon.
